If you are an artist and wish to be updated on art show information via email, please subscribe to our announcement-only mailing list. General Information

CONduit XIX will be held May 28-30, 2010 in Salt Lake City, Utah. We generally have 500-900 members.

Artists are welcome at CONduit events. However, please note that purchase of art panels does not include a membership to the convention. For information on purchasing a convention membership go to the Registration Page

If you wish to hang your own art but not attend the convention, arrangements for that and for pick up after the show closes will need to be made in advance with the art show director. These hours will be very limited.

We strongly recommend you not send art that is more than PG-13 rated as we are in a conservative and family oriented culture.
We will NOT hang art that does not meet those standards.

Art Show Registration and Other Forms

All forms are in Adobe PDF format. Don't have the free Adobe Reader? Download it here.

Registration Form. Fill this out and send in with your registration fee to reserve the panels you would like. Panels are first come, first serve.

Art Show Control Sheets: 1 page (1-21 items), 2 page (22-42 items), or 3 page (43-63 items). Please list each individual piece/title separately.

Print Shop Control Sheets: 1 page (1-20 items), 2 page (21-40 items), or 3 page (41-60 items). Please list each individual piece/title separately.

Display Panel Bid Sheets
We will send premade ones to you at the beginning of April, so please let us know how many you need and in which format. You may make your own with these, too, if you wish. Please make them two-part carbonless copy forms as that makes our job easier when processing sold pieces.
Horizontal bid sheets. For wider pieces.
Vertical bid sheets. For narrow width pieces (same content as above, only vertical).

Print Shop Bid Sheets
The Print Shop uses one-part "bid sheets" in order to keep better track of each item in the print shop. You can download the form here or let us know how many you need and we will send them out to you. If you download and print your own, please print them on pastel green paper.

Fees and Costs

Art Show Panels have a 4'x4' pegboard panel area. We strongly encourage you to tape off a 4'x4' area on your carpet (use painters or artists tape) and layout your pieces so you can get a feel for how they will fit in that space. Be sure to include room for the bid sheets in the layout, too.

Once you have a layout which works for you, take a picture of it and send it along with your artwork. This will make hanging your artwork much quicker so we can open the art show earlier and get more people in to see your work and (hopefully!) buy it. It will also make sure your art is laid out on the panel in the way you believe is optimal for its display.

The CONduit Art Show charges a 10% commission of the final sale price of any artwork sold in the show.

  • 4' x 4' Full Panel: $10.00 each.
  • 2' x 4' Half Panel: $6.00 each.
  • Table (Full panel space with 18" deep table space): $15.00
All panel/table fees and forms are due by April 30th, 2010.
We have limited 3-d space (tables) at this time, so please reserve early.

Please limit yourself to two panels or panel units unless you have made prior arrangements with the art director.
We like to give as many artists as possible the chance to show in order to have a wide variety for our attendees. We do take a waiting list for any unsold space at the reservations deadline or any cancellations of reserved spaces. Reservations are accepted on a first come, first reserved basis.

Sending Your Registration

Mail completed registration forms and appropriate registration fees to:

CONduit Art Show
c/o Joe Monson
PO Box 360
Orem, UT 84059-0360

Sending Art

Mail-in art must be received by May 8, 2010. Do NOT send art directly to the hotel.

Please insure your art so that if it is damaged in shipping, the carrier can compensate you.

CONduit Art Show/Print Shop
c/o Curtis Rich
848 N 500 E
North Salt Lake, UT 84054
Please do NOT send registration forms to Curtis.

INSURE YOUR WORK!
If you don't, it is left on the doorstep and its safety can not be guaranteed! Once art is received, you will receive a confirmation email that it has arrived.

Please make sure you have sent a hanging schematic with your art.
Otherwise, you accept our arrangement, which may not be as optimized as the one you would have done

Mail control sheets and bid sheets with the art.

Return instructions/costs for mailed in art.

Please send return postage and costs for insurance with your art, or with your registration fees. A return mail label is best. Many artists send a prepaid return label. This is strongly encouraged.
If you do not send this, and have insufficient sales for us to cover the cost of returning the unsold art, we will be forced to consider your art a donation to the convention.

Please send reusable packaging as we will use your own packaging to return your unsold art.
Please be aware that if you send your package to us via priority mail,
even if you specify you want it returned via parcel post,
it will most likely be returned priority because the tape used to mark the box is difficult to
remove and the Post Office requires that all priority markings be removed in order to
reuse the box with a different method of travel.

We can accept mailed in art by FedEx, UPS, Airborne Express (DHL) or USPS.

Unsold art will be returned to you via USPS, unless you have instructed otherwise,
or necessitated by the labels on your box.

Unsold art will be sent by return carrier by June 26, 2010 at the latest. We try to get your art back to you ASAP.

in a particular category to make an award viable. Some examples of past categories:

Setup and Hanging Art

Setup time for building the panels and getting everything ready for hanging art is Thursday, May 27, 2010, 7:00PM-Midnight. The more people we have helping, the faster things will be done. If you have some time and would like to help, we welcome you. There will be snacks provided!

Tentative hanging time is Friday, May 28, 2010, 8:00AM-11:00AM.

Please let us know if you are going to need different times than these designated for hanging
so we can make those arrangements in advance.

If you are not going to be able to hang your art show items at the designated time,
please let us know so that we can place a notice on your panels to inform art
show patrons that your art will be coming later.

Art and print shop items will need to be checked in by the artist or agent with the art show director or designated assistant. If you are having someone else hang your art, please make sure you have signed the necessary release on your art show registration form.

Sales

Art Show items are sold by bid unless otherwise marked.

Quick Sales are also available to members who cannot be at the con on Sunday for regular pick up.

Bids are accepted during Art Show open hours until 12:00 Noon on Sunday, May 30th, 2010 when the show closes to prepare for the auction. Three written bids will send a piece to auction.

The Art & Charity Auction is currently scheduled for 2:00 PM, Sunday May 30th, 2010. Note: these times may change depending on availability of Programming space. Please check your Pocket Program for the final time.

If an item has no bids after the Art Auction, it can be purchased for the Quick Sale price.

Art Auction and Charity Auction

CONduit's Art Show welcomes items for the charity auction.
The Charity auction is also on Sunday May 24th and will be held held with the Art Auction. (See above)

CONduit's charity of choice is Reading For the Future Utah, a 501(c)(3) charitiable organization.

RFF Utah's goal is to get good science fiction and fantasy books into the hands of youth in an effort to get them reading.

To facilitate this, RFF Utah sends boxes of donated new and in-good-condition books to teachers and school libraries all
over the state.

The RFF Utah program actively solicits the donation of the books and works with librarians and teachers in order to get books to
the kids.

Any designated for RFF Utah charity auction funds are used for the postage to make this program possible.

All donations to RFF Utah are fully tax deductible. Consult your tax advisor for details.

For more information about the organization go to RFFUtah.org

Picking Up Art

Please let us know if you are going to need different times than these designated take down so we can make those arrangements in advance.

Art will need to be checked out with the art show director or designated assistant. If you are having someone else pick up your art, please make sure you have signed the necessary release on your art show registration form and that they have sufficient identification for the art to be released to them.

Print Shop Information

There is no panel cost to have items in the Print Shop. The CONduit Art Show reserves the right to rearrange items in the Print Shop at any time during the show in order to make sure all items sent in for the print shop are displayed. We may also restrict the amount of space used by any one artist depending on the number of items in the print shop.

CONduit will take a 10% commission on all sold works, whether print shop or art show.
