The CONduit Anime Music Video/Original Animation Contest gives fans a chance to showcase their audio and video editing talents. The contest is voted upon by the audience and the screening process is anonymous. For all suggestions, comments and questions, please contact the Contest Coordinator at psylent@yahoo.com.

Eligibility

• Any interested person may send an entry for the competition except judges of the Contest.
• Entries that have won more than 2 awards at other conventions will not be eligible for an award at CONduit.
• All entries must be received no later than May 15, 2008 (physically received, not postmarked)

• CONduit is not responsible for entries delayed or lost in the mail.
• Entries will not be accepted in person nor at the Convention.
• Only three (3) entries per individual will be accepted.
• Entrants found encouraging or participating in heckling will be disqualified from the contest.
• Membership at CONduit XVIII is not required for submission, but membership is required if you want to attend the showing.
• There is no entry fee.

Listed below are the categories in which entered videos may compete.

• The entrant may suggest a category but the judges may move the entry to another category.
• The judges make the final decision of winners.

Submission Guidelines

• Each Entry will be limited to a maximum length of seven (7) minutes. Trailers/Commercials will have a maximum length of three (3) minutes
• Anime Music Videos must contain a minimum of 80% footage from Japanese Animation or Japanese Video Game Footage.
• Anime Music Video must contain a minimum of 75% footage set to music.
• Original Video Animations may use any form of audio for their soundtrack.
• All entries must fall within a MPAA rating of PG-13 or lower. Entries will be disqualified if deemed inappropriate for a general audience.

Technical Criteria

• Entries must conform with the NTSC (National Television System Committee) standards of 29.97 frames per second, be no smaller than 640 X 480 and may only be submitted in one of the acceptable digital media formats.
• Acceptable Digital Media Formats:
  Uncompressed, AVI DV, MPEG-4, MPEG: MPEG-2, MPEG-1.
  Audio: A bit rate of no lower than 44,100 (44.1k) Dual Channel, Stereo
  Unacceptable Formats:
  Windows Media Video: WMV 2 Real Media: RM, RAM, RA, etc
  Authored DVD: (When you make it play as a video DVD in a DVD Player. You are still able to submit the files as a Data DVD)
• Do not include any bumpers or slates for your entries, and keep your intros and exits free of any text that does not relate to the video itself -- no intro or exit text overlays, bugs, watermarks or similar graphics. Specifically designed titles containing your name, the video name and contest information will be generated for each video. This is to maintain a professional uniform look throughout the contest.
• Entrant must include an email address in order to receive acknowledgment that his submission has been received.
• Entrant should send a copy of his submission and retain the master.

Judging

• The entries will go through preliminary judging immediately following the submission deadline.
• Final judging will be held two weeks prior to the convention.
• Decision of the judges is final.
• Not all prizes in all categories may be awarded, depending on entries.
• Prizes TBA. Prizes are non-transferable. No more than one prize will be awarded for each ranking in each category.
• Winners will be notified by mail and/or email one week prior to the beginning of CONduit XVIII.
• Prizes will not be held beyond the closing day of CONduit XVIII , May 25, 2008. Unclaimed prizes will be forfeited unless prior arrangements are made with the Contest Coordinator.

Terms and Conditions

• By entering the CONduit XVIII AMV/OV competition, the entrant agrees to all terms and conditions of the contest as outlined.
• Entrant retains all copyright to the submission.
• Entrant grants sfcon.org and CONduit XVIII the right to release the winner's name, likeness and biographical information for publicity purposes.
• CONduit reserves the right to use any entry for display or promotional purposes. By submitting to CONduit it is assumed to be cleared for use by the creator for this purpose.
• Entrant agrees to accept, without reservation, the decision of the judges. Judges' decision is final.
• All physical entries, regardless of their submission format, become the property of CONduit and will not be returned to the creator. Please only send the best copy of the video you can and not your original masters.
• All videos will be screened by a panel of judges to best fit the video to an appropriate category. The screening process is to help determine cuts so that the final playlist runs no more than a (2) hour time block.
• sfcon.org and CONduit XVIII are not responsible for late or lost submissions.
• The Special Events Manager and the AMV/OV Contest Coordinator have sole responsibility for interpretation and implementation of the rules. The decision of which entries are contest winners is final.
• The Special Events Manager and AMV/OV Contest Coordinator reserve the right to place an entry into a category they feel is most appropriate.
• People invited to judge the AMV/OV Contest will not be eligible to enter the competition portion. Exhibition will still be open to these individuals.
• All rules, prizes, and methods of judging for the CONduit AMV/OV are subject to change without prior warning.
• Failure to meet the terms and conditions of this competition will result in disqualification of the entry.
